Iconic Movie Car Fetches Over $300k at Barrett-Jackson

The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona from Joe Dirt went up for auction at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach. While not one of the original 503 produced, it gained fame through Hollywood. Despite starting as a standard Charger, it underwent restoration to mimic the iconic Daytona design, followed by modifications for its on-screen “clunker” appearance. Beneath its exterior, it boasts a Dick Landy-tuned 7.2-liter MAGNUM V8 engine and various mechanical upgrades. Bidding soared to $300,000, reaching a final price of $330,000, showcasing the enduring popularity of the movie and the Charger Daytona.
