This Rare Barn Find is a Trip Down Memory Lane

8 months ago Heritage

Thanks to Auto Archaeology’s YouTube Channel, we’re having flashbacks of the early ’70s … big hair and all. It’s no secret that the HEMI® engine-powered first-gen Plymouth Barracuda has gradually gained value since it was introduced more than 50 years ago. That’s because they’re so difficult to find, with only 680 HEMI engine-powered ’Cudas sold between 1970 and 1971. We’ve seen survivors and restored examples go for nearly $1,000,000 depending on the condition and the options. If you factor in, say, a convertible top, the total number drops significantly and the resale value skyrockets. Roughly 2% of all the Plymouth Barracudas sold in 1971, HEMI engine or not, are convertible. That’s what makes this ’71 Plymouth ‘Cuda barn find so rare. It’s hard to see such a fine vehicle in this condition, but don’t fret, the owner is planning on a full restoration.
