Another Rare Find

The production of the Dodge Coronet, whose name translates to “little crown”, spanned two decades and had five distinct generations. Released in 1949, it was available as a two-door club coupe, a four-door sedan and a four-door station wagon just to name a few. Each variety was offered with the Dodge 230-cubic-inch flat-head straight-six engine, until the 1953 refresh, which introduced the optional HEMI^® V8 engine. After two more significant redesigns in just four short years, the ’57 Coronet had the exciting new option for a three-speed TorqueFlite^® auto box or a two-speed PowerFlite. Despite still impressive sales through 1959, the Coronet took an almost six-year hiatus before its reappearance – made up of four series and 17 models. Two more years pass and we’ve reached 1969. The muscles car era is in full swing and the culmination of all the design elements of the past resulted in this beautiful Dodge Coronet R/T HEMI Convertible. It might surprise you that a similar example sold for $625,000 at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee in 2016.
