Now through October 16^th, The Brotherhood of Muscle will be making an appearance in the popular mobile game PUBG MOBILE. Dodge has been collaborating with PUBG MOBILE for months to bring the famed Dodge muscle cars to life in digital form and ready to do battle. A limited-edition Dodge Challenger SRT^® Hellcat Redeye Widebody, features a supercharged 6.2L High-Output HEMI^® V8 engine providing mind-blowing acceleration, while its added 3.5 inches of width offers impressive stability and grip. Lest we forget the Charger. A limited-edition Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody is also entering the battleground featuring wide fenders and a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 engine. There’s no shortage of pure unadulterated power and both legendary muscle cars are available in never-before-seen colors. Players can choose either Blaze or Lime on their Challenger and Fuchsia or Tuscan Torque on their Charger.

If you’re a gamer and Dodge enthusiast, this will resonate with you more than most. However, even if you don’t consider yourself a gamer, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to give it the old college try! Fans can download the game from either the Apple Store or Google Play.

Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with the creators of PUBG MOBILE to ask a few questions about the development of the Challenger and Charger within the game and ask about future iterations.

DodgeGarage: What was your motivation for bringing Dodge vehicles into PUBG MOBILE?

PUBG MOBILE: We have been following auto industry trends and noticed that Dodge has always been known for its excellent quality and extraordinary ideas. From our previous surveys, core users expressed high expectations of Dodge. After several collaborations with different auto brands, our users have been talking about future partnerships, and we found that they are eager for a Dodge integration. As a studio closely connected with our players, we believe that integrating Dodge cars into the game and letting such an excellent product be shown on the battlefield is something interesting and exciting. Hence, after multiple internal discussions and evaluations, we finally decided on the idea of introducing Dodge cars into PUBG MOBILE.

DG: Can you give us an overview of what PUBG MOBILE is and how players will interact with each other and the cars in this game?

PGM: PUBG MOBILE is a multiplayer online battle royale game. Since its launch in 2017, it has had 1.1 billion downloads globally. It is the world’s leading competitive game and has a large number of players around the world. We have collaborated with major brand IPs, many of which are famous car brands. In the game, there are two types of interaction between players: cooperation and competition. Players cooperate within the team and compete with other teams to survive and win. Players interact with vehicles in two dimensions: a practical one and a displaying one. Players need to use vehicles to travel long distances quickly. At the same time, players will also be showing off their vehicle collection, including appearance, models and decorations during social occasions.

DG: Will there be various types of cars players compete with? Which models can we expect to see?

PGM: There will be two special-edition models in this collaboration. One is the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, which is completely modeled after the real Dodge car. In the game, it is perfectly replicated as the skin of the classic PUBG vehicle Dacia. The other is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. Taking into consideration PUBG players’ desire for the classic 2-seater skin, the Dodge Challenger special edition is an improved version of the original 2-seater based on the Dodge car.

DG: Why did you choose these models? How do you see these cars connecting with PUBG MOBILE players?

PGM: Dodge has also been recognized as a leader in the American automotive industry, so when someone thinks about what represents the modern American muscle car, the first thought is going to be either the Dodge Challenger or Dodge Charger.  These are the quintessential muscle cars of the modern automotive scene. With the long-standing tradition of partnering with the top automotive brands, we felt the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger were a great fit for the fast-paced action within the rugged battlegrounds of PUBG MOBILE. 

The selection of the colors for each model were inspired by our vibrant and diverse game map environments. For example, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat – Fuchsia originates from Pink Beach, a new landmark from our new tropical island resort map, Nusa, which is being introduced in our September update, along with the Dodge vehicles.

DG: What was the process like for recreating the cars in-game? Did you reference images or get to see the models in person?

PGM: The Dodge team provided the original design model of the vehicle, and we selected the desired exterior and interior configuration based on the product team’s recommendations and produced it in the game engine.

DG: Were the cars recreated to authentically represent the real models, or were creative elements added to enhance the gameplay experience?

PGM: The Dodge Charger is exactly the same as the real model. Considering that more players prefer to use a 2-seater car in PUBG MOBILE, we made a 2-seater car skin based on the Dodge Challenger as a prototype, so that players can enjoy the look of Dodge cars while not having their gaming experience disturbed. Additionally, for the audio material, we used the recording material of the real car to ensure a perfect restoration of the charm of driving a Dodge car.

DG: Did you work closely with Dodge to ensure that the digital design meets their standard?

PGM: Yes, we have been working closely with the Dodge product team to ensure that the in-game models and specifications have a high level of fidelity; we worked to ensure that our customizations maintained overall competitive integrity that is integral to PUBG MOBILE, while saving the unique brand of Dodge Challenger and Charger.

DG: PUBG MOBILE has partnered with other famed car brands in the past (Lamborghini, McLaren, Koenigsegg, Tesla, etc.), what sets this collaboration with Dodge apart from others?

PGM: The previous partnerships were limited to in-game replicas of the cars. However, for this partnership, the Dodge Challenger special model is made exclusively for PUBG MOBILE players based on their demands.

DG: Are you open to working with Dodge again as new models come out in the future?

PGM: We are very willing to have further future collaborations. We have even thought about, if possible, a collaboration where new models are launched simultaneously in the real world and in the virtual world (in-game).

DG: Do you see the trend toward electric vehicles becoming something that finds its way into gaming?

PGM: Yes. Whether from a usability perspective or a personalized content perspective, we believe that electric vehicles, especially branded cars, will be a trend in the gaming field. Players need a reliable means of transportation, while also needing a vehicle to express their brand.
