With heavy hearts, the Don Schumacher family announced the passing of motorsports legend Don Schumacher at the age of 79. The world loses another pioneer in the motorsports community. While remembered most recently as the team owner of Don Schumacher Racing, Schumacher was a fierce Funny Car racer in the ’60s and ’70s. He was not only successful on the track, he was a successful business owner, building his own racing company and global electric company. His passion both on and off the track was contagious and sparked the passion in many racers over the course of his lifetime.

In 2002, Don Schumacher and Dodge joined forces to run the Dodge Stratus R/T Funny Car body in the 2003 NHRA season. Through the 18-year relationship, Don and Dodge made headlines across the motorsports community helping to improve the sport of drag racing and bring home the wins.

Don was inducted into the Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2007, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2013, Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2019 and presented the NHRA’s Lifetime Achievement award in 2022. He paved the path for many and is someone that will surely be missed by all.

The staff here at DodgeGarage was lucky to have worked with him on many projects and as we pay tribute to a legend, we are remembering the good times. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Schumacher family at this very difficult time!
