Buddy Baker: One of NASCAR’s Fastest

4 years ago Racing

Buddy Baker has driven several, now notorious, Dodge vehicles to fame throughout his time as a NASCAR driver. In 1980, Baker won the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, with an average speed of 177.602 mph, which was the Daytona 500’s fastest recorded average speed at the time and is still the record today.

He later drove a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona at the Alabama International Motor Speedway and became the first person to break the 200 mph mark on a closed course with a speed of 200.447 mph. The Dodge Daytona was considered one of the most aerodynamic stock cars ever built, but it’s not the only Dodge vehicle Baker would go on to drive around the track at high speeds!
