2023 Dodge Challenger SRT® Hellcat Manual Transmission Option has Arrived

Back in August 2022, Tim Kuniskis announced during the Speed Week festivities that the 6-speed manual transmission option would be returning to the Dodge Challenger SRT® Hellcat for the 2023 model year. Due to powertrain calibration issues, the manual transmission was absent from the lineup in 2022, but for the final model year of the current era of muscle cars, the three-pedal cars were returning. However, when the order banks for the 2023 model year opened, there was no 6-speed manual transmission option for the SRT Hellcat models.

Early on, you could order a 2023 Challenger R/T or R/T Scat Pack with the 6-speed, but not the SRT Hellcat, with the company pointing out that it would be offered later in the model year. As time went on, a few outlets republished the article from last year, stating that the manual transmission was available for ordering in the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, at which point excited buyers began contacting their local dealerships, but each time that happened, the customers learned that the option still wasn’t available.

Fortunately, there is finally some official good news for those folks waiting to buy a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with the 6-speed manual transmission, as the option is now available in the dealership order system. The following statement is courtesy of a Dodge brand representative:

“The Dodge Challenger Hellcat with manual transmission is now available, in low production volumes. Customers can use the Dodge Horsepower Locator tool at DodgeGarage.com to find a dealer with a remaining Challenger Hellcat allocation, and then connect with the dealer to place an order for a Challenger Hellcat with a manual transmission.”

If you have not used the Dodge Horsepower Locator here on DodgeGarage.com, it allows you to search by area to see which dealerships have allocations for Challengers and Chargers. You can search by trim level, so if you have been waiting to order a 2023 Challenger SRT Hellcat with 717 horsepower and a manual transmission, you will start by searching to see which dealerships have allocations available. Once you have found a dealership with an allocation for the Challenger SRT Hellcat, you will want to contact that dealer and begin the process of ordering one with the 6-speed manual transmission.

It should be noted that the 6-speed manual transmission is not listed in the Build & Price area of Dodge.com for the 2023 Challenger SRT Hellcat, but it is officially available through the dealership order banks.

Due to the 6-speed transmission hitting the order banks so far into the 2023 model year, the odds are good that production of three-pedal Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat models will be low – making them a rare collectible going forward. As for those who aren’t so worried about collector’s value, this is likely your last chance to buy a brand-new, supercharged Dodge muscle car that allows you to row your own gears.

What’s the difference between a allocation and a order ? I had a allocation at the dealer I work for from 10/26/22 I asked May first and they said it never made the the list to be ordered , so we reordered may first 2023 , still no action, status is in BG , I just don’t want to get left out on this opportunity, it’s very frustrating that I can’t get a confirmation of a vin so I can rest easy ! Car is ordered in plumb crazy Scat pack wide body ,just looking for answers if anyone knows .

Can we assume this applies to both the regular and widebody trims?
