This 1971 Plymouth Barracuda convertible is sure to turn heads at the Mecum Glendale Auction this weekend, March 18-20. The ’Cuda E-body was only in the market for five years but is still arguably one of the best-known nameplates from the former Plymouth brand. This example stands out because it’s one of just 87 ’Cuda convertibles powered by the 6.3-liter V8 and still has its original broadcast sheet and window sticker. The base MSRP for a ’71 was just over $3,400 when it was introduced, but this particular car was pretty well-optioned. It features power steering, power brakes with front discs, and even factory air conditioning – which only about half of vehicles sold at that time were equipped with. The exterior is Rallye Red with black “383” billboard stripes, dual body-color exterior mirrors and some of the classic ’Cuda touches that we’re familiar with.
