Midsummer Mopar® Car Show: The Fun Continues

Last time in Part 1, we covered the the massive amount of Dodge Challengers at the Midsummer Mopar®s event in West Covina, CA.

In this second installation of show coverage it’s all about the Chargers, Durangos and vintage Mopar vehicles that were displayed! It’s an event with a wide variety of all things Mopar (375 vehicles!) with special emphasis on Modern Mopar Muscle. We start with the Chargers:

CHARGERS: STRENGTH IN NUMBER

2007 LX CHARGER SUPER BEE

It was during 2005 when Dodge re-introduced the Charger model to their product lineup, and it was the sixth generation of the famous nameplate, called “LX” Platform. The LX Chargers were produced from model year 2006-2010. This is a 2007 Super Bee that’s been heavily modified, carbon fiber replacement body parts, 3-piece custom billet wheels, 7.0L stroked HEMI® engine on nitrous, 3K stall torque converter, carbon fiber driveshaft, 1,000 hp half shafts, the list goes on and on! A faithful member of Team Hybrid Car Club.

LD CHARGERS GALORE

The model year 2011 saw a revised Charger and these LD platform cars were produced through the end of the run in 2023. The Midsummer Mopars 2025 event had a large turnout of them, and here’s a visual recap of some of them in all their glory!

SRT® HELLCAT REDEYE WIDEBODY

When it comes to a powerful high-performance sedan yes, the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody fits the bill perfectly! 707-horsepower with 707 lb-ft of torque, said to be more aerodynamic than its brother the Challenger, with a lower coefficient of drag and more efficient body shape for superior top speed performance!

SCAT PACK

CAR NOT A WRAP

Some things will never get replaced with technology, this 2019 Scat Pack Charger has authentic Green Metalflake paint which the owner makes it a point to announce the finish is not a wrap! Color-keyed wheels, front and rear flip doors and airbag enhanced suspension. Definitely without question the car has a lot of eye candy goin’ on!

WRAPPED CHARGER

Extending into the rear window glass, the owner here chose the wrap route and in the build aftermarket wheel flares with deep-dish two-tone wheels and airbag suspension.

FULL SPECTRUM OF COLORS

Walking the grounds, there were a lot of modern Chargers! Unique colors, carbon fiber treatments, graphics, wraps, custom-tailored personalizations, colorized daytime running lights, a great deal of creativity and variety.

MAYWEATHER-THEMED CHANGED

A Top Ten trophy winner, this Mayweather Boxing + Fitness-themed Charger caught the attention of the event judges big time!

LAST CALL 2023 SUPER BEE

Yes, it’s an elated moment when you’re showing your rare 2023 “Last Call” Dodge Charger Super Bee In Plum Crazy paint, which is #057 of 500 built, it’s a modern-day classic!

CHRYSLER 300 REPRESENTING

A happy couple with their very clean SRT 300, there’s a certain following of these Chrysler brand cars and a handful were in attendance!

DODGE DURANGO SELECTION

While the majority of the 375 vehicles were Chargers and Challengers, there also was a substantial amount of third-generation Dodge Durangos that came to join in the fun, everything from factory stock to wildly modified. All are welcome at Midsummer Mopars!

West Coast Durangos is an active, family-oriented Southern California-based club dedicated to the Dodge Durango! They were well represented at Midsummer Mopars and with enthusiasts of all ages!

A participating car club “OnlyMopars” based in Los Angeles, they had a variety of display vehicles at the event, it’s a fun group of Mopar loyalists and they start them out young in the movement. He was very proud of the family’s Durango.

A member of Hardcore Mopars and her Durango is her pride and joy, very dedicated to the scene!

MOPARGIRL_RT DURANGO

Boldly displaying the Omega Mopar logo, a fully detailed ride with a Spanish message: “I got nothing!” Well, maybe so, but that colorful head-turning Durango certainly has a lot in the stance and wild graphics!

A friendly visit by the West Covina Police in one of their Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles, fitting in with the overall theme of the event, which had a good number of “civilian” Durangos!

V10 VIPER COUPE

Tucked in between a Chrysler 300 SRT8 and a 2018 Challenger SRT Demon, a 2014 Viper GTS in Gunmetal Pearl paint, standard equipment 8.4L V10 SFI (Sequential multi-port Fuel Injection) 640 horsepower, 600 lb-ft of torque, 6-speed overdrive manual transmission. Curb weight: 3,430 pounds, top speed: 206 mph!

SRT-4 NEON

Developed to compete in the then-fast-growing sport compact market, the 2004 SRT-4 Neon came with a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder that developed 250 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque in stock form. This particular car has been treated to Mopar Performance Stage I ECU, Mopar Borla cat back exhaust, CCA front mount intercooler, NOS Wet Single Nitrous Kit, Forge Billet Wastegate, AEM INtake and MSD Ignition. Result? Horsepower boosted to 295 with torque rating of 329 lbs-ft. With the modifications and upgrades, it ran a 12.3-second time at 118 mph in the quarter-mile! Yes, a four-cylinder Mopar pocket rocket.

FRIENDLY STAFF

Friendly staff and very well-organized event! Midsummer Mopars really knows how to make for a fun day in the California sunshine and providing enjoyment for Mopar fanatics, vintage, modern, a nice selection of all!

CLUB PARTICIPATION

The West Covina Sportsplex provided for a wide-open venue for the individual car clubs to park together and plenty of room for car club canopies for shade. There was ample room for all the members of the various clubs with plenty of camaraderie amongst them!

VINTAGE DODGE VAN

Tradesman 100 109-inch wheelbase van from 1973, a favorite amongst the vanners at that timeframe! In very good condition, and with the 5-piece fiberglass spoiler/wheel flair kit, windshield visor and chrome side pipes. A set of modern-era five-spoke wheels added. The custom van scene was big in the 1970s and great to see this one as part of the vehicle assortment.

1969 SATELLITE SURVIVOR

A proud Plymouth owner, her ’69 Sport Satellite is a gem! Based on the Belvedere boy, same as the Road Runner, this car has a muscular flavor to it, even though in 1969 it was just a “regular” everyday car back then, albeit very cool ride!

Today the 318-cid LA Mopar small block is equipped with a four-barrel induction and Chrysler Electronic Ignition. The car is known as “Sadie” has been driven and enjoyed for over 300,000 miles, those Cragar S/S wheel give it that correct nostalgia look!
