Grudge Match Gladiators Reigning Champion Morgan Evans

If you have followed Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge over the past few years, the name Morgan Evans should be familiar to you. Evans drove her Hurricane-powered 1987 Dodge D150 to the win in the 2024 Grudge Match and for 2025, she is returning with the same truck that helped her claim the title last year.

For those who didn’t read her bio last year, Morgan Evans built this 1987 Dodge D150 with help from her fiancé, Jason Kastner. They found the truck at a farm in Georgia with just 79,000 miles on the odometer and after towing it home, they removed the stock drivetrain to make room for the twin turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six. They also added the modern 8-speed automatic transmission, a Moser Engineering Mopar® 8 ¾ rear differential, Viking coilovers up front and Calvert Racing split mono-leaf springs with Caltracs in the back, JEGS SSR Spike wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson tires, JEGS racing bucket seats, JEGS safety harnesses, an AEM CD7 digital dashboard and a roll bar.

All of those items above have remained on Morgan Evans’ 1987 Dodge D150, relatively unchanged since last year’s race, but the truck has not been sitting dormant. In fact, she has put over 6,000 miles on the odometer and made more than 50 blasts down the track since winning the 2024 Roadkill Nights Grudge Match.

“Right after last Roadkill Nights, we raced in Tom Bailey’s Sick 66 drag & drive. We drove the truck from Florida to Missouri, Missouri to New Mexico (solely using Route 66 and racing at 6 tracks along the way), then from New Mexico back home to Florida. That was 3,500 miles and I took home the Fastest 6 Cylinder trophy. From there, the truck went to SEMA where it won AMD’s Best Dodge Truck. After that, we participated in Sick Week, another drag & drive. We averaged 10.19 @ 129 mph the entire week and managed to take home the Fastest Mopar trophy. After Sick Week, we came home and went to a local test & tune at Orlando Speed World, and I ran the truck’s best pass so far of 10.11 @ 131 mph. The last event we went to was Hemmings Musclepalooza, I raced in the Unlimited Muscle Truck class and somehow took home that win as well! It has been a crazy year, but we’ve had a blast and we love this truck so much. It’s truly street driven, we drive it to and from the track and even to the grocery store, post office, parts stores, etc.”

Dodge has provided components for many participants in the annual grudge racing program, but it seems that Morgan Evans and Jason Kastner have made the best use of the engine that they were given after Roadkill Nights was over. The engine has been kept stock right down to the airbox, but with the 2025 Grudge Match program being held “outlaw style”, her team does plan to add more power before heading to Detroit in August.

“I don’t want to spill too much, but we’ll be addressing the turbos, intake, fuel, possibly intercooler depending on time. We’ll be taking some weight out of the truck also, we never had time to so it’s still full weight with all the factory climate control and things of that nature. We’ll also be adding a full cage because it is far beyond its tech limits of a simple roll bar. Our power goals aren’t crazy, we mainly want to make it safer for the engine and pick up a little bit of extra horsepower.”

You can follow Morgan’s build on her Instagram and YouTube, and be sure to catch her in action at Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge on August 9th.
