The Last Stop – NMCA World Street Finals

Where has the season gone? It seems like yesterday we loaded up our Challenger Scat Pack Shaker and headed south from the Motor City down to Bradenton, Florida, for the NMCA season opener in March. Now, it’s September and the final stop on the 2018 NMCA event schedule will be the 17th annual World Street Finals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, September 20-23. If you recall, Lucas Oil Raceway, known as Indianapolis Raceway Park or “IRP” among the diehard and traditional fans, is the famous drag strip that has also played host to the NHRA U.S. Nationals that saw our own Leah Pritchett claim her first-ever victory in the Factory Stock Showdown class driving her Mopar® Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. Her teammate and fellow Drag Pak driver, Mark Pawuk, was also runner-up and showed the competition Dodge’s dominance in the class.

The competitors heading to the NMCA World Street Finals also know its starting line surface at Indianapolis Raceway Park has teeth as it’s one of the best tracks in the country, where records have been set in many race classes. The NMCA World Street Finals will also celebrate the American muscle car movement over the last five decades, along with heads-up and bracket racing. For car lovers of all ages, there’s the huge car show with enough eye candy to overwhelm your senses. The NMCA brings together a giant manufacturer’s midway with product specialists to help your ride go faster and handle better.

Our gearhead buddies at the NMCA will have contestants shredding some tires with their burnout contest; and after the smoke clears, you can check out the swap meet for vintage and hard-to-find parts.

If you ever wanted to race your late-model GEN III HEMI® machine, now’s your chance…and it’s free. The NMCA offers the Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout, which will allow you to experience the ultimate performance if you own a Challenger/Charger SRT® Hellcat, Scat Pack and R/T. Got a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon you want to run? No problem. The NMCA has a home for your low-10, high-nine-second muscle car. The NMCA is the place to enjoy the incredible performance of your modern muscle car in a fun, safe environment such as Indianapolis Raceway Park.

If that’s got your heart racing, here’s the Free Registration Form.

“The Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout has been awesome. We began this partnership back in March and the late-model HEMI participation has been amazing. The steady growth through the year culminates in Indy this weekend, and the last two events have seen the largest pre-registered groups. You just can’t help but get excited when the parade of cars comes to the staging lanes for some 1320 fun. We are proud to work with Dodge/Mopar to get these cars and SUVs on track in a safe and legal racing environment,” said Rollie Miller, national event director and general manager of NMCA and ProMedia Events & Publishing

Summer’s getting close to pulling the chutes and heading back to the pits. This might be your last opportunity to try your hand at some grassroots drag racing before Old Man Winter sets in. So, fire up your Mopar and head to the “Crossroads of America” to check out the NMCA World Street Finals at Indianapolis Raceway, you’ll be glad you did. If you simply can’t break away from the hustle and bustle of life, DodgeGarage.com will be livestreaming the heart-pounding action all weekend. So whether you pack up and head to the track or sit back and relax in the comfort of your own home, join us for this final NMCA World Street Finals.
