Did you know: The “Big Go” & the 2021 Drag Pak

The 67th edition of the NHRA Dodge//SRT® U.S. Nationals is staged for action in Indianapolis this weekend. Did you know it’s the first year with Dodge//SRT as the title sponsor? The “Big Go” is the biggest race of the season, and this weekend will celebrate some cool historic moments and provides the perfect backdrop to reveal some new details about the 2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar® Drag Pak that will be competing.

Did you know this year’s Dodge//SRT NHRA Nationals is the 20th Anniversary of the Dodge HEMI® Challenge? It is the longest running continuous specialty race in NHRA history. It features heads-up, wheel standing, side-by-side racing of vintage HEMI-powered Dodge Dart and Plymouth Barracuda “package cars” that have dominated the NHRA Super Stock (SS/AH) class for over five decades.

Did you know the first Factory Stock Showdown (FSS) was held at Lucas Oil Raceway during the U.S. Nationals back in 2012? Only one FSS race was held that year, which would start a tradition that has morphed into one of the most popular classes to see the heart of “the Big Three” take each other on . In 2013 two more races were added to the schedule and David Barton became the first to win a race in a Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, earning that title in Charlotte.

Did you know professional drag racer Leah Pruett was both the first woman to win a Factory Stock Showdown race, and clenched the championship title in 2018? With determination and tunnel vision to win, Leah is a force in both the Top Fuel and FSS fields. Did you also know that in 2018 the Dodge Challenger Drag Pak won 5 out of 7 FSS races?

This weekend in Indianapolis brings the Factory Stock Showdown back to where it all began in 2012. With the 2021 Drag Pak racing to write another chapter in the storied Drag Pak history, three Challenger Drag Paks will take to the track in search of success. Leah Pruett and Dave Davies with their 2021 Drag Paks and Mark Pawuk with his 2015 Drag Pak. With only three FSS races remaining this season and Leah currently third in the standings, do you know where our focus will be this weekend? On the Big Go!

Go Challenger!

It was GREAT to see all the Challenger Drag Pac’s at Indy for “The Big Go”. There were actually 5 competing for the win. Joseph Welch was the #1 qualifier at the event with a ET of 7.776. It was also really GREAT to see Geoff Turk bring out the “BLACKBIRD”. The “BLACKBIRD” was the first Factory Stock car to break into the 7’s.
Thanks to Dodge for sponsoring the US Nationals!!
