All Eyes on Indy: TSR Set for Showdown at the U.S. Nationals

The NHRA’s biggest race of the year, the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals, returns to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park this Labor Day weekend, bringing prestige, pressure and a shot at rewriting the 2025 narrative.

For Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) and its Dodge-backed entries, Indy offers a chance to reset and rise on drag racing’s grandest stage.

It’s been a mixed bag this season for TSR. Matt Hagan, a four-time Funny Car world champion and multi-time Indy winner, enters the U.S. Nationals looking to capture another Wally to add to his collection. While the team hasn’t found the consistent groove they’re known for, the Dodge Charger SRT® Hellcat Funny Car remains a threat every time it rolls into the water box.

On the Top Fuel side, Tony Stewart, yes, that Tony Stewart, is back in the driver’s seat. Stewart’s competitive nature is sure to give fans a high-horsepower show. “Every pass teaches me something,” said Stewart. “Indy is legendary, and we’re going there to compete, not just show up. This team’s got the equipment and people to make noise.”

The U.S. Nationals, nicknamed the “Big Go,” has been the defining event on the NHRA calendar since 1955. With five qualifying sessions and a Monday final, the pressure is high, the track time is long and the reward is legacy.

Fans can expect the full Dodge experience on the Manufacturers Midway, where Direct Connection parts, tech and track-inspired street performance take center stage. From engine displays to interactive exhibits, Indy is more than a race – it’s a celebration of horsepower culture.

Dodge and TSR aren’t riding a wave of dominance into Indy – but this is drag racing, and momentum can flip in 3.8 seconds flat.

With Matt Hagan’s experience and Tony Stewart’s growing confidence, both lanes are locked and loaded heading into the sport’s most important weekend. And when the lights drop at Lucas Oil Raceway, there’s only one goal: win the Big Go.
